wow 2 days with no one posting in this thread.
finally got some more food (and fiep has bread again).
though the time change really has messed with my sleeping patterns--no idea why since its only an hour and I dont have schedules to keep or anything.....
looks like spring is finally on its way (my snowman door hangy thing looks very depressed right now).

May I ask what a gondola is (other than a long poled boat in Venice}?
EDIT: I know I could Google it, but that wouldn't be sociable.

A gondola is a sandwich from a local restaurant here. Cosy knows what it is as she has been in the area. It is from a restaurant called Avanti's, which is an Italian restaurant. Anyways it is on bread and it has ham, salami, American cheese and lettuce. It is pretty freaking delicious.

its one of the few things from that part of illinois worth going there for....dang I only had some ravioli for dinner...
very funny thing happened today---I got a christmas card in the mail--no it was not redirected, it was mailed just a few days ago from a college buddy of mine who made procrastination an art form, but I think he went too far this time. I think some of my old friends are having a contest to see who can send theirs out the latest. (well he wins this year...I thought getting mine out a week before xmas was bad)

In our area we would call that an Italian grinder, pronounced "grinda".

Hey I still like central Illinois! Though it is where I have lived my whole life so I guess I'm kinda partial too it...
I guess they probably have different names different places if you can find them. There are a few things that are only local here, another one being Farmington Chips or Kitchen Cooked Chips. Can't find them anywhere else because the factory is in Farmington. Freaking good chips though.
lol That is kind of awesome cosy. He made it so Christmas never ends!

american cheese is well a yellow cheese that is a conglomerate of cheeses more of less (they list colby and cheddar as the most likely ones). Its the generic cheese you get in the usa if you dont specify what you want. Though some of the american cheese on the market today is not even cheese but a manufactured cheese PRODUCT....bleh. and yuk. (you can get some of this in velveeta--not even classified as cheese anymore)....as a kid I used to like the borden american cheese since it had a bit more milk in it than the kraft dry crumbly stuff they try to pass off as cheese (neither one is really cheese).
oy sorry another rant on food--yeah that would be me the rat going on about it.
and yeah azzer no need to apologize for not being here--this is just an escape we like to use from time to time, some of us more than others.
(and no its not officially spring, but the temps are finally staying above freezing at night and I have been seeing flies and other insects so they have hatched which usually occurs around the beginning of spring).

What would cheeseburgers be without American Cheese? I am an American cheese elitist as I only like Land of Lakes and a local brand called Boars Head, no Kraft rubber squares for me.

I saw someone pulled over right next to the bar they left. It was great. But other than that since I don't drink, St. Patty's day is nothing exciting.
Don't diss on Kraft! I have an Uncle who works there...

I dont diss on the company, just the product. (I do still like mac&cheese, but I buy amy's now)...not to mention the company my hubby works for does business with kraft as well. However I have no loyalties to ANY company that produces subpar products--and american cheese is one of those (and I despise velveeta, ew and yuk!)
(I have a friend who works for the electric company--doesnt mean I LIKE the electric company!)
I like real cheeses now, so brand names mean very little since some of the best cheeses are made my local craftsmen and not some big monopoly company.
now I am hungry again---went to that local bakery/restaurant and had the gnocchi, YUM!
